    £2500 S2

Is £2,500 for a 92 S2 3B, full heated leather, brand new 16" alloys and s/s scorpain exhaust 160,000miles a deal or over priced?

Bit pissed off, Charlie. Got the Corrado running today, sounds like it's lubricated with a fistful of granite rather than oil, and only on 5 cylinders.

Siena - do you know this code means on a 95 VR6 Corrado?

00281 vehicle speed sensor (g68) 27-00 impausible signal

I can't find anything on that code for the VR6.

Also - my brother is about to buy a 2.8 VR6 engine for his Mk2 Golf - anything we needd to lookout for/check on the engines?

Sorry for hijacking the thread - maybe you can PM me Siena - if you have time?

Not sure what the speed signal refers to in the Corrado - perhaps the sender on the box? When buying, get an early one with distributor AND no immobiliser, save yourself a lot of grief. Also, make sure the loom , ECU and engine come from the same car - there are about 3 different ECU's, and they are not readily compatible.

Cheers Siena - the VR6 is already in a Mk2 - we are raping all the bits we need out of it and putting it in my bros car - we just need to get a fuel pump plumbed in so we can test the engine before we buy it.

Doug, I'm pretty sure I had that fault code on my Corrado Vr6. I think it relates to the crank sensor mounted on the block by the front engine mount.

BTW is your bro going to convert to 5 stud on his Mk2?

The sensor by the front engine mount refers to TDC, there is also one at ther top (on coil pack engines) that works similar to ABY sensor on the cam. I think the vehicle speed sensor is the speedo transducer.

thanks for the info - I didn't think he was going to change to 5 studs but the polished TT alloys might just tempt him - is it required for the VR6 engine? I was under the impression the VR6 driveshafts would mate up to the Mk2 hubs OK

The VR6 driveshafts are longer and the outer cv wont fit into the mk2 hub. If he sticks to 4 stud he should use 16v mk2 shafts using originalw/bones etc.

If he wants 5 stud, he needs shafts, hubs, rack and wishbones off vr6. This way, he can use late vr6 288mm brake set up.

Reason I asked, Doug is because I've just dismantled my mk2 vr6 project and I've got a set of BBS RCs 7.5x17 5x100 et35 for sale that I was going to put on it if he's interested.

Siena is right, theres also a sensor on the cam chain side of the head which can cause running problems.

Also, the brakes from a v6 4 motion or TT will bolt straight onto the 5 stud hubs. I think they are 312mm.

The car with that fault code is running ok - but that fault code keeps apearing! I will pass on the info though. The only thing about the car I can see that is not running right is the idle is about 650 and it misses occasionaly on idle. He did have other fault codes that were casuing it to hesitate through the revs but we fixed those by changing a temp sensor and thermostst.

My brother already has big brakes - not sure what they are off though - maybe a G60?? Were they bigger and 4 stud?

I will pass the info you have onto him Sal - Why are you breaking yours up? I like the idea of a light Mk2 supercharged VR6 - can't wait to get it running.
